Talal Al-Wahaibi is an associate professor in the department of petroleum and chemical engineering and the Assistant Dean in the Deanship of Research at Sultan Qaboos University. His research interests are in the area of two-phase flows for energy and process engineering applications. They span from studies of pipeline flows of oil-water mixtures relevant to oil production and transportation to flow in homogeneous and heterogeneous porous media relevant to enhanced oil recovery. Currently, he is also interesting on the applications of ionic liquids as green solvents for chemical processes. He has around 80 scientific publications in these fields. He served as main supervisor/co-supervisor for 9 M.S. students and 5 PhD students. Since he started at SQU, his research has attracted over US $ 5 million in grants and contracts, which were used mainly to establish/develop number of research and service laboratories at SQU. He was awarded by SQU the “best researcher” award in 2014. Al-Wahaibi holds a BS degree in petroleum engineering from Sultan Qaboos University, an MS degree from the University of Tulsa and a PhD degree from University College London in chemical engineering.
